Looking for a ski apartment in Avoriaz? Atlas Ski Co has hand-picked a collection of self-catered apartments in this unique car-free resort, perched at 1,800m in the heart of the Portes du Soleil. Just 15 minutes up the mountain from Morzine, Avoriaz is a true ski-in/ski-out resort where you clip into your skis at the door and head straight onto the slopes. From compact apartments for two to larger options for bigger groups, there is something to suit every party.

With no cars in the village, Avoriaz is wonderfully peaceful and ideal for families and friends who want snow-sure skiing on their doorstep. Our Avoriaz ski apartments give you the freedom of self-catering, with the restaurants, shops and lifts of the resort all within easy reach.

Self-catered freedom in the heart of the Portes du Soleil

Avoriaz ski holiday apartments give you the flexibility to ski when you like and eat when you like. Step out of your door onto the snow, then return for lunch, a hot tub-worthy rest or a glass of something warm at the end of the day. Being car-free, the resort is easy to explore on foot, and with the vast Portes du Soleil ski area on your doorstep you can be skiing into Switzerland, and Avoriaz is around 20 minutes by car from Morzine, or about four minutes by the Prodains Express cable car.

Why choose a self-catered apartment in Avoriaz

A self-catered apartment gives you your own space and your own timetable. Breakfast happens when you are ready, children eat at their usual time, and evenings are spent round your own table. For families and groups of friends it is often the most cost-effective way to stay in the resort. Avoriaz suits it well, with supermarkets, bakeries and a farm shop in the village, and you can place a food order before you travel so it is waiting when you arrive.

Every apartment page lists exactly what is included, from bed linen to ski lockers and fully equipped kitchens. You can browse all of our self-catered properties in Avoriaz, or, if you would rather have breakfast made and a spa downstairs, take a look at our Avoriaz hotels.

How Avoriaz works: car-free, ski-in/ski-out and linked to Morzine

Avoriaz sits at 1,800m in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, which covers around 600km of pistes across 12 resorts in France and Switzerland. The resort is completely car-free and every building is ski-in/ski-out, because the streets are snow-covered. Cars stay in the car parks at the resort entrance, and you move around on skis, on foot, or by snowcat and sleigh. Our Avoriaz resort guide has more on the village, the ski area and the season.

Geneva Airport is around 1 hour 45 minutes away by road, and we can arrange your airport transfers. On arrival, your luggage is taken from the reception area to your door by snowcat or sleigh, so soft bags work better than wheelie cases. Avoriaz is around 20 minutes by car from Morzine, and the Prodains Express cable car links the valley with the resort in about four minutes, which makes it easy to enjoy both. If you would like a valley base, see our Morzine ski apartments.

Frequently asked questions

Are linen and cleaning included in the apartments?

Bed linen is included in every Avoriaz apartment, and we provide towels in our self-catered accommodation. Cleaning varies by property. Kouria includes daily housekeeping from Sunday to Friday, while Elinka and Alpages Duplex include one mid-stay clean. Check the What's included list on each property page.

Are the Avoriaz apartments good for families with children?

Yes, the car-free village is safe for children to explore. The Village des Enfants teaches 3 to 16 year olds and the Avrizou nursery takes children from six months. We can supply high chairs, travel cots, and kids' plates and cutlery on request, and we recommend childcare options. Some apartments have bunk rooms, so check the sleeping arrangements.

Can I add ski passes, airport transfers, ski hire and lessons?

Yes. Alongside your apartment we can arrange Portes du Soleil and Avoriaz ski passes ready on arrival, Geneva airport transfers, ski hire delivered to your door, and ski lessons and guiding. We can also recommend childcare and help with catering options. See all our ski extras, or tell us what you need when you enquire.

How do I book an Avoriaz apartment?

Complete the enquiry form on the property page, and our team will reply. Once details are agreed, you receive a provisional booking confirmation, then pay a 30% non-refundable deposit through your My Booking area. The final balance is due 8 weeks before arrival. Our how to book guide explains each step.

How far is Avoriaz from Geneva Airport and from Morzine?

Geneva Airport is around 1 hour 45 minutes from Avoriaz by road, and we can arrange your airport transfers. Avoriaz is around 20 minutes by car from Morzine, and the Prodains Express cable car takes about four minutes from Les Prodains. The Super Morzine lift also links the two ski areas on skis, so many guests enjoy both resorts during a week.

How many people do the Avoriaz apartments sleep?

Alpages Charming and Alpages Standard sleep up to four, with one bedroom plus lounge sleeping space. Araucarya and Chapka sleep up to six in two bedrooms plus a sofa bed. Kouria and Neva sleep up to eight in three bedrooms, while Elinka and Alpages Duplex sleep up to eight in four bedrooms. Some beds are bunks or lounge sofa beds, so check the page for each Avoriaz property.

Is Avoriaz car-free, and how do I get to my apartment?

Yes, Avoriaz is completely car-free and every building is ski-in/ski-out. Cars stay in the car parks at the resort entrance. Your transfer drops you at the reception area, which is open 24 hours in season, and from there you can call a snowcat or sleigh to take your luggage to your door. Soft bags are easier than wheelie cases on snow. There is more in our Avoriaz resort guide.

What are the changeover day and check-in times?

Changeover day for our Avoriaz apartments is Saturday, which is the norm in Avoriaz, although some alternative changeover days may run over Christmas and New Year. Check-in is usually late afternoon and check-out is in the morning. Exact times depend on the property and are confirmed when you book. Our FAQ page has more on arrivals and departures.

What is the difference between self-catered and catered?

In a self-catered apartment you shop and cook for yourselves and run the week to your own timetable. In a catered holiday, a chef prepares meals for you, as in our catered chalets in Morzine. Our Avoriaz apartments are self-catered, and some larger properties include daily breakfast delivery. Ask us about catering options, from meal delivery to a private chef.

When is the ski season in Avoriaz, and is the snow reliable?

The Avoriaz ski area is scheduled to run from 11 December 2026 to 18 April 2027, with pre-opening weekends on 28/29 November and 5/6 December 2026, snow permitting. The village sits at 1,800m, which helps snow arrive early and last late, although conditions can never be guaranteed. See our Avoriaz resort guide for more on the ski area.
