Avoriaz only has a handful of hotels, and the best of them are small, 4-star and right on the snow. Step out of the lobby, clip in and you’re on the Portes du Soleil, with 600km of pistes across France and Switzerland.

A hotel suits Avoriaz better than almost anywhere. There’s no cooking, no shopping trips up a car-free village, and no luggage to haul once you’ve checked in. Breakfast is waiting each morning, there’s a pool or spa for tired legs, and dinner is sorted downstairs or a short walk away.

We’ve hand-picked every hotel on this page and we know them well. We’ll match you to the right one, and arrange your lift passes, ski hire, lessons and Geneva transfers alongside it.

Why stay in a hotel in Avoriaz

Ski to the door. Avoriaz is built on the snow, so the hotels in the village are ski-in ski-out by design. You finish your last run at the front door and your skis go straight into a heated locker.

Everything handled. Rooms are serviced daily and breakfast is included. Most hotels have a restaurant, bar and lounge, so on a stormy night you don’t need to leave the building.

Pools and spas at 1,800m. There’s an outdoor heated infinity pool at MiL8, a Pure Altitude spa at the Dromonts and indoor and outdoor pools at Neige & Roc. Avoriaz hotels do recovery properly.

Flexible for families and couples. Family rooms, interconnecting rooms, kids’ playrooms and babysitting mean parents get an evening too. Couples get a proper boutique hotel feel without a chalet full of strangers.

Shorter stays. Hotels are often more flexible than chalets on length of stay, especially outside the school holidays. That makes them a good fit for a long weekend or a four-night break.

Our Avoriaz hotels

Hotel MiL8 4*
MiL8 opened in 2020 and is the newest hotel in the resort. It sits right on the slopes in the middle of the village, and its 42 rooms and suites (21 to 52m²) mostly have balconies and many can interconnect. The heated outdoor infinity pool looks straight across the peaks, and there’s a sauna, fitness room, kids’ playroom and heated ski lockers. La Table du MiL8 serves breakfast, a slope-side lunch and refined dinners. Family rooms come with a bunk corner for the kids, and the hotel is dog-friendly too.

Hôtel des Dromonts 4* (use if contracted)
This was the first building ever put up in Avoriaz, and it’s the resort’s most iconic hotel, wrapped in its famous fir-cone wooden roof. There are 35 rooms styled in the spirit of the 1960s with wool, wood and slate, plus a Pure Altitude spa and two restaurants, including the bistro-chic Les Enfants Terribles. It’s in the historic Dromonts district, a short ski from the main lifts.

Hôtel & Spa Neige & Roc 4* (use if contracted)
A peaceful 30-room chalet hotel at Les Prodains, at the foot of the Prodains Express cable car, ringed by cliffs. It has indoor and outdoor pools, a Nordic bath and a gourmet restaurant. Because it’s in the valley you can drive right to the door, then ride the cable car up to the village and the slopes in four minutes.

Hôtel Les Lans (use if contracted)
A family-run hotel at Les Prodains near the cable car, with 30 rooms in traditional Savoyard style and a warm, homely feel. It’s great value, road accessible, and four minutes from the Avoriaz ski area.

Hotel or Self-Catered

A hotel is the easy option for couples, smaller families and anyone who wants to switch off. Larger groups who’d rather cook together and have their own space usually get better value from one of our self-catered apartments and chalets in Avoriaz. And if you’d prefer a lively valley town with lower prices, take a look at our Morzine hotels, just 4 minutes away by cable car.

Frequently asked questions

Are Avoriaz hotels ski-in ski-out?

The hotels in the village are, because the streets are covered in snow and the pistes run right past them. The Les Prodains hotels sit at the bottom of the Prodains Express cable car, 4 minutes below the village. The runs down to Les Prodains are steeper, so less confident skiers usually ride the cable car home.

Are the hotels good for families?

Yes. Family rooms, interconnecting rooms, cots on request, kids’ playrooms and babysitting are all available, depending on the hotel. The Village des Enfants ski school for 3 to 16 year olds is in the centre of the resort, and the Avrizou nursery takes children from 6 months.

Can I bring my dog?

Some Avoriaz hotels welcome dogs, including MiL8. Tell us when you enquire and we’ll confirm the rules and any charges.

Can you book my lift passes, ski hire and lessons?

Yes. We’ll arrange your passes, hire, lessons, childcare and Geneva transfers alongside your hotel, so everything is ready when you arrive.

How do I get to my hotel with luggage if Avoriaz is car-free?

For village hotels, your transfer drops you at resort reception and a snowcat or sleigh takes you and your bags to the door. The Les Prodains hotels are on the road, so you can drive or transfer straight to reception. We’ll talk you through it before you travel.

How many hotels are there in Avoriaz?

Very few. Avoriaz is mostly apartments, with just three 4-star boutique hotels and one hotel club in and around the village, plus a couple more at Les Prodains in the valley. Rooms go quickly in the school holidays, so book early.

Is breakfast or half board included?

Breakfast is included at all our hotels. Some offer half board and others are bed and breakfast only. Even B&B is easy in Avoriaz, with around 90 restaurants across the ski area and plenty within a few minutes’ walk of every hotel. We’ll confirm the board basis when you enquire.

Is there a minimum stay?

It depends on the hotel and the week. As a guide, school holidays and peak weeks are usually 7 nights, while quieter weeks often allow 4 nights or less. Short breaks and group bookings are available on request.

Is there a tourist tax?

Yes. French resorts charge a tourist tax (taxe de séjour) per adult per night. At a 4-star hotel in Avoriaz it’s a few euros, and you pay it at the hotel.

What time is check-in, and can I ski on arrival day?

Check-in is usually from 4pm. Most hotels will store your bags and skis if you arrive early, so you can get straight on the slopes.
