Skiing is hungry work. You’ve got to be well fuelled and ready to tackle the steeps after lunch, or well-nourished so you can be up bright and early for the first lift and fresh tracks.
For anyone staying in our catered ski chalets, they'll enjoy sumptuous 3-course dinners each night, so we’ve broken this down into burger/quick eats style venues and more formal, evening affairs for self-catered guests. Morzine offers so many options catering to so many, that you’ll find something to cater for all tastes.

Burgers and Quick Eats in Morzine
Opened in 2014, Le Bec Jaune quickly became the locals' favourite hangout. Slightly less of a bar serving vin rouge than most French bars, and leaning towards a pub, it appeals to the British with home-brewed beer and great burgers. Everything is prepared on-site, even the burger buns, and with a small but rotating menu inspired by France, South and Central America, India and the UK, it’s the place to go in Morzine for good beer and good food.
Another eatery offering a modern, trendy take on the humble burger is O'Chalet - think thick burger patties, brioche buns, curly fries and an American diner theme with chequer-board serving paper. With a long menu, the whole group will catered for - hot dogs, wraps, burgers - and open from morning 'til late, covering quick lunch pit stops to late night refreshments.
We can’t cover Morzine burgers and not mention Burger Place (Au Bon Coin). The original and true classic French style of burger. Seeded bun and thin, fresh patty, with homemade relish, this burger is hard to beat. Burger Place is seconds from the Pleney lift, making this an ideal lunch spot to refuel, especially if you’re heading from Pleney to Super Morzine lift (or vice versa) to switch it up in the afternoon.
For those wanting a more varied menu with further afield flavours, try Hideout. Inspired by Asian Street Food, with Miso Soup, Satay Chicken, Dim Sums and Nasi Goreng on the menu, Hideout can offer a welcome change from many of the other eateries.
And for the coffee lovers, our favourite place for a flat white is Satellite Coffee. Maybe the ‘healthiest’ spot on this list, and catering brilliantly to veggies and vegans, with fresh and tasty options on the menu.
Restaurants, Bistros and Savoyard Dining around Morzine
Famed for its cheese, a trip to the Savoyard region might not be complete without indulging in a fondue or raclette, both local delicacies. Top of the list for cheese lovers is La Ferme de la Fruitère. Traditional in styling and constructed using old stone and wood from ancient mountain top farmhouses, the restaurant offers you the chance to eat a fondue whilst surrounded by cheese wheels - dreams really do come true.
If up-market French cuisine is what you’re looking for, we recommend La Chaudanne. Only a 5-minute drive from the town centre, this eatery offers the largest selection of seafood in Morzine alongside French favourites such as beef fillet and lamb shank. There are also more than 350 wines to pick from with the help of a sommelier, so you should be in good hands when picking the perfect accompaniment.
L’Etale is the heartbeat of Morzine eateries. Offering great service, a wide and varied menu, with pizza, steak, pasta, pad thai, mussels and tartiflette all vying for your attention, perhaps it’s an understatement to say this restaurant caters for everyone. Found in the centre of town, L’Etale is always open and always bustling with customers, a valid testimony to its qualities.
La Rotonde is a slightly fancier bistro, serving fish, beef, duck, pasta, risottos, Savoyard specialities and a big selection of pizzas, all presented with care and attention to detail, and amazing sundaes to finish off the meal! Open all day and located centrally, between Pleney slopes and the tourist office.
A short drive out of town and situated on the shores of Lac de Montriond, you’ll find Hotel Du Lac, with a cocktail bar and restaurant offering contemporary cuisine, as well as a seven-course tasting menu.
Mountain Top Restaurant
Mountain Top Restuarants in Morzine and Portes du Soleil
Does it get much better than lunch with a view? We’re talking sweeping panoramic views of snowy mountain tops under a crisp bluebird sky. We’re not sure it does.
After skiing as many of the 650kms of pistes that the Portes du Soleil has to offer, you'll need to re-fuel. Here are our favourite recommendations to check out.
Le Vaffieu can be found at the top of Pleney, next to the top of the top of TS du Belvedere, TS des Fys or TS Folliets du Golf, and with a number of blue runs returning to Morzine, it’s easily reachable for the whole group. It has a sunny terrace and with homemade dishes made with local produce to choose from. Definitely worth checking out.
Le Rosset’taz sits in a convenient spot at the bottom of Nauchets Express, Ranfoilly Express, Grains D’or Express and the Rosta lifts in the Les Gets area. The closeness of multiple lifts and a combination of blue, red and black runs, it’s perfect for getting straight back into skiing post-lunch! With great views and great food, what's not to like? Serving a wide range of food, and traditional ski-fare, however it’s worth noting that it’s cash only.
Le Chaudron in the centre of Lindarets is a popular spot as it’s on the way to / from the Arden Telecabine, which is used to connect Avoriaz to Morzine along the road. Accessed easily from Avoriaz (you could even detour through The Stash) and Chatel, Le Chaudron has a gourmet menu, so it’s one to enjoy and savour the peaceful spot.
Part of the same family as Le Chaudron, Le Changabang in Avoriaz has streetfood menu and a contemporary vibe. With burgers, nachos and poké bowls all on the menu, you’ll find something to fill up on. Le Changabang is easily accessible right next door to the Prodains cable car.
Chez Flo is at the heart of Avoriaz at the platform for Prodains cable car, making it accessible for walkers too. With a big sunny terrace, and a huge round bar, Chez Flo offers local dishes, such as tartiflette, as well as meat, fish and pasta, so something for everyone!
And what about something to drink?
This list is by no means exhaustive, and only covers where to eat in Morzine and on the mountains. For where to enjoy the best Apres-Ski in Morzine & Avoriaz.
